Marcela Miranda - Principal and Educator We hope that these stories will inspire us all to set higher goals and work harder to achieve them.
Here is a brief Bio and Advice from Marcela:
I was born in Joco and brought to the US at a very young age. I am the youngest child of Ricardo and Carmen Miranda. They have a home near “La Campana” where they are happily living their retirement years. I cherish the moments when I am there at the plaza watching families congregate.
Attending schools in the US, I realized the lack of equity that exists in our California schools. I have made it my mission to make sure that all children have access to equal education. My formal education includes Glendale Community College, UCSC, UCLA, and currently SJSU where I have received my degree as an Educator.
I am now a Principal at Belle Air School in San Bruno, CA where I continue my efforts to educate ALL children. As a Principal it is my goal to give students the tools they need to attend college and achieve a better standard of living for themselves and their families. The best advice I can give parents is to have daily structures set up so that children know when it is time to play and time to do homework. Children of immigrant parents want their children to concentrate only on school work and don’t give them other responsibilities. However, the most successful students are the children that learn to manage their time effectively with school and home duties.
